Eiffage Construction offers a rejuvenation cure to the Grands Thermes de la Bourboule (63)

A three-year renovation programme has therefore just been launched by the municipality, owner of the premises, with the aim of establishing La Bourboule in the field of thermal medicine on a long-term basis. Thirteen million euros, co-financed at 71% by the State, the region and the department, will be invested in the improvement of the patients' comfort.
 
The renovation phase of the large thermal baths will be divided into three parts:

•  the repair of the roof,
• the interior renovation,
• the energy adaptation of the thermal baths.

The works will allow to refresh some areas of the buildings with the repair of the floors and the earthenware. The most delicate part of the work concerns the 4,000 m² of original roof (dating from 1875, and never having been redone), an emblem of the local thermal architecture.
 
Its restoration must take into account the conservation of the heritage (listed as a historical monument) and a very demanding upgrade, notably by restoring the roofs of the entire establishment, the frameworks, the east and west wings and the dome. The architects of the Bâtiments de France and Eiffage Construction gave careful consideration to the choice of tiles, among other things, in order to preserve the harmony of the whole.
 
In addition, the installation of 600 m² of photovoltaic panels on the roof is planned to supply the new linen room and, at the same time, to reduce the consumption of fossil fuels by the spa.
 
The work, which has just begun, will last until the end of 2025, and will not interrupt the thermal cures. Two other phases should follow with the creation of a multidisciplinary health centre within the establishment and a new spa.
