A graduate of École Polytechnique, the Chebap (Center for Advanced Studies in Reinforced and Prestressed Concrete), and ISG, Richard Bouvier began his career at Castells, a construction company based in Tarbes, where he became General Manager in 1975.
In 1979, he joined SGE, then moved to the SAE Group in 1986, where he spent four years overseeing the construction of the Beijing World Trade Center.
In 1991, Richard Bouvier was appointed Managing Director of SAE Industries and simultaneously named Chairman and CEO of Eiffel (the group's steel construction division).
In 1998, Jean-François Roverato entrusted him with the presidency of SAE.
In January 2000, he became President of Eiffage Construction, which brought together SAE, Fougerolle, Quillery, and their international subsidiaries. Eiffage Construction became the construction brand of the Group, with 15,000 employees and a turnover of 17 billion francs at the time.
Admired by everyone who worked with him throughout his career, described as a great leader, a skilled manager, and an outstanding engineer, Richard Bouvier left a lasting legacy in the Group's history.
A man of great empathy and kindness, he was deeply attentive to his colleagues, helping them grow by entrusting them with greater responsibilities.
Calm and consensus-driven, he managed to face the most challenging situations with serenity and simplify the most complex issues.
Richard Bouvier retired in February 2003.
