Eiffage Route inaugurates Sovatrise

Eiffage Route and Séché Environnement are inaugurating Sovatrise, a platform for the recovery of non-inert soil and concrete, on the Mi-plaine industrial estate in the communes of Chassieu and Saint-Priest (69). Sovatrise is a new local service for the management, treatment and reuse, after decontamination, of excavated soil produced on urban, property and industrial development sites in the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region. Optimising the sorting of this spoil means that almost 100% of it can be reused after decontamination, as part of a circular economy approach.

An innovative partnership

Séché Eco Services (SES), a subsidiary of Séché Environnement specialising in the decontamination, dismantling and rehabilitation of industrial sites, and Eiffage Route, an expert in the management of roadworks and urban development, have joined forces to set up a platform dedicated to the treatment and recovery of soil in the heart of the Lyon metropolitan area. Sovatrise meets the needs of major local development and infrastructure projects, which are often constrained by space and deadlines, with a focus on short circuits.

With a total surface area of 16,500 m2, the platform operated by the Séché Eco Services (SES) teams can accommodate up to 150,000 tonnes/year of non-inert soil or concrete. It is designed as a multi-channel tool for identifying and isolating the polluted fractions contained in soil and eliminating all types of pollution using targeted technical solutions: sorting, screening, washing, physico-chemical treatment, biological treatment or heat treatment.

A circular economy and biodiversity preservation solution

After these decontamination operations, the 2nd life materials obtained (fertile substrate, aggregates, materials for road use...) can be reused in a sober approach as a substitute for natural resources, while maintaining full traceability. Sovatrise's aim, through its sorting and processing of non-inert rubble, is to maximise the value of these materials in local development projects.

By rehabilitating land by reclaiming brownfield sites in the Auvergne-Rhône Alpes region, Sovatrise is contributing to the "zero net artificialisation" target for 2050, set out in the "Climate and Resilience Law" of 22 August 2021, and to the preservation of agricultural land and biodiversity.

The result of the first collaboration in the AURA region between a public works company and a waste management company, this innovative platform reinforces the circular economy loop for materials, one of the strategic axes of the ecological transition approach shared by the Séché Environnement and Eiffage.
