Bruno Mars concert sets new audience record for the Pierre-Mauroy stadium

The efforts of teams working at the Pierre-Mauroy stadium in Villeneuve-d’Ascq (Nord) are paying off. Its extensive and varied programme is strengthening the stadium’s position, both for sports and cultural events. Top performers are playing there and benefitting from the excellent conditions on offer.
The recent concert performed by the American singer-songwriter and producer Bruno Mars, a 2016 Grammy Award winner, was a huge success.
The day before the concert, the first fans began to arrive at Lille Flandres train station from all over France and even Europe. The bravest ones spent the night camping out in the square to grab the best standing places.
The show opened with a set by Californian singer, rapper and producer Anderson Paak. Then at 9.30pm, Bruno Mars emerged out of a rainbow of lights, surrounded by his backing singers and bass guitarist. It was a high-energy entrance by the singer-songwriter, dancer and musician. During the 90-minute set, he played some of his biggest hits, including “24k Magic”, “Treasure”, “That’s what I like” and “Marry you”. The audience got emotional to the sounds of “Straight Up & Down” and “Versace on the Floor” and the show closed with a rendition of “Locked out of heaven” and a shower of confetti.
