After several months of adjustment and welding carried out by Eiffage Métal's teams, the seven sections of steel structure now form the future Saumur bridge. The latter proudly crossed the Thouet River in early July to support the existing structure in order to ensure its doubling.
Eiffage Métal will now work on unloading the 753t structure at a height of 2.50 metres, so that it can be built on the final supports provided by Eiffage Génie Civil teams at the beginning of the year.
The latter reinvested the site at the end of August to finalize the abutments and lay the 24t prefabricated slabs of the deck. These 61 slabs, dimensioned by BIEP (like all the civil engineering of this project) will be cranked, during the day for land areas and at night for the area above the watercourse. The last operations will concern the superstructures for delivery at the end of 2019.
Congratulations to the teams leaving the site, and good continuation to those who will finalize this beautiful work on behalf of the CD49.
