Lourdes: Pope Leo XIV unveils a sculpture on the bridge rehabilitated by Eiffage Génie Civil

This is a source of immense pride for our teams, who successfully completed the design and construction of this structure in just 9 months.

Combining technical expertise and landscape integration, this 44-meter-long engineering structure frees up the Gave de Pau riverbed. It features a composite steel-concrete deck, requiring 160 tons of steel and 300 m³ of concrete.

Designed by MC K Archi in collaboration with the Architecte des Bâtiments de France (the official French architectural heritage authority), the guardrail's design, featuring intertwining stylized fish, pays tribute to the river's biodiversity.

To ensure the success of this project — delivered in just 9 months of construction (17 months including design studies) — Eiffage Génie Civil drew upon the diverse skills and expertise within the Group. This included:

• The Biep design office for the execution studies.
• Eiffage Énergie Systèmes for the dynamic lighting of the guardrails.
• Eiffage Route for the asphalt and external works.
• Ævia for the roadway joints.

Building on a long-standing presence in the region, where Eiffage had already worked to reinforce the historic bridge in 2016, the project also involved numerous specialized partners and contractors such as Acchini (demolition and earthworks), Temsol (deep foundations), Sler (guardrails), Soprema France (waterproofing), Arcelor, Geotec, Artelia, and Soler IDE.

Design-build consortium: Eiffage Génie Civil (lead contractor), SETI (design and project supervision), and the MC K Archi firm (architecture & design).
