Eiffage Génie Civil Marine construction yard in Dakar for GTA Project for BP under progress
The construction yard of Eiffage Génie Civil Marine, located within the Port of Dakar, is a 12ha reclaimed area in which the concrete caissons of the breakwater of the BP Great Tortue Ahmeyim (GTA) project will be built.
The main construction equipment have been mobilized at Site and been erected. Start caisson fabrication activities is schedule for first month of next year.
BP has awarded a contract to Eiffage Génie Civil Marine for the EPCI of the 21 concrete caissons ( around 16 000 t each) as the main elements of the breakwater (1 150 m) for the near-shore LNG Hub Marine Terminal for Greater Tortue Ahmeyim Field Development at the border between Senegal and Mauritania.
Around 124 200 m3 of concrete will be locally produced in Dakar, and those operations will generate 600 local jobs at peak.
