Our teams are delighted to support Bordeaux Métropole in the construction of the new "François Mitterrand" footbridge, which will allow pedestrians and cyclists to travel between Bègles and Bouliac.
Fixed to the deck, the cantilevered structure will measure over 650 meters in length and 3 meters in width.
Users will benefit from three belvederes—true resting points along the crossing—offering breathtaking views of the nearby Île d'Arcins.
As the addition of the footbridge requires reinforcement of the existing structure, carbon fabric and additional prestressing will be integrated.
Driven by an eco-design approach, the proposed structure will be made of pre-stressed UHPC (Ultra-High-Performance Fiber-Reinforced Concrete) slabs, helping to reduce its carbon footprint.
Winner of the design-build contract launched by the Prefecture of the Nouvelle-Aquitaine region, the Prefecture of Gironde, and Bordeaux Métropole, the consortium is composed of Ævia, Eiffage Génie Civil, MOG ARCHITECTES, and Setec.
Many thanks to the DREAL (Regional Directorate for the Environment, Development, and Housing) for its trust!
