In the Hauts-de-France, Eiffage Génie Civil completed the construction of the peripheral protection of the Gravelines power plant
In the Hauts-de-France region, on the construction site of the Peripheral Flood Protection (PPINO) at the Gravelines National Electricity Production Centre, the teams of Eiffage Génie Civil completed the work begun more than two years earlier this autumn, with the installation of the last watertight metal guards inside the power station and the installation of the 8 watertight external portals.
At the heart of this nuclear power plant – the most powerful in Europe – and in a very demanding industrial environment, our teams have built an external peripheral protection nearly 3 km long, consisting of 1.5 km of piles, 1 km of dike, 250 m of reinforced concrete wall, 8 watertight metal gates and installed more than 1.5 km of watertight metal roofs inside the plant.
The aim of this major project was to improve the safety of the nuclear site against the risk of flooding while at the same time integrating into the landscape.
In figures, this project represents:
- 130 persons
- 45 000 m3 of backfill
- 12 000 m² of asphalt
- 8 700 m3 of rubble
- 4 200 m3 of concrete
- 3 000 m3 of watertight screen grout
- 2000 t of piles
Congratulations to the teams for their commitment and tenacity! Thank you to EDF for your confidence.
