Eiffage Énergie Systèmes boosts its electronics manufacturing offer with a second production site in Colombelles
As part of the development of its electronic sub-assembly and assembly manufacturing activities, Eiffage Énergie Systèmes now has a second production site in Colombelles (Calvados), with 18 years' experience in the field, to complement its historic site in Verquin (Pas-de-Calais), which boasts 40 years' know-how. This new facility will strengthen Eiffage Energie Systèmes' capabilities in electronic board manufacturing, with a particular focus on prototypes and small production runs.
The Colombelles site's dedicated, specialized and responsive team ensures that requests are met within optimized deadlines. The teams/experts/specialists work closely with customers, right from the initial design phases, and offer design and engineering support for electronic board routing, using Altium and Cadence software in particular. This positioning complements the Verquin site, with an agile approach designed for responsiveness and co-construction.
High-precision industrial capacity
The Colombelles site is equipped with advanced industrial facilities to guarantee high-quality production. It boasts a latest-generation SMD (Surface Mounted Device) line, incorporating high-performance control systems such as SPI (Solder Paste Inspection) and AOI3D (Automatic Optical Inspection), to ensure precision component placement and rigorous control at every stage.

The SPI is an optical inspection machine that verifies the quality of the solder paste applied to the Printed Circuit Board (PCB). It checks the height, surface and volume of the paste in 3D, detecting any offsets, gaps, excesses or short circuits. The SPI is positioned directly behind the silkscreen printer to intercept boards with defects before the electronic components are placed, thus reducing the risk of production faults.
The site is also equipped with an X-Ray tomography system, which can be used to visualize “hidden” solder joints, invisible to the naked eye and to AOI3D, notably for Ball Grid Array (BGA) components. A vapour-phase furnace, suitable for short lead-time prototype production and used for lead-free soldering, completes the package, guaranteeing optimum soldering quality and minimizing defects.
A networked operation
The Colombelles and Verquin sites work in synergy to offer a complementary range of services, combining historical expertise and industrial agility. This organization enables Eiffage Énergie Systèmes to offer a comprehensive, reliable and responsive solution to the most demanding electronic projects.
