At Gif-sur-Yvette (91), Eiffage Route has applied its Biophalt® plant-based asphalt mix.

Biophalt® is a plant-based asphalt with high technical and environmental performance. It helps to meet the challenge of low-carbon roads by combining a number of innovations:

• the use of a biosourced binder, derived from forestry and co-products of the paper industry, which replaces all the petroleum-based bitumen normally used;
• the recycling of more than 40% of asphalt aggregates from in-place pavements, which guarantees the preservation of the natural resource of new quarry materials;
• lower production temperature, which limits energy consumption and reduces CO2 emissions.
