A renovated building for the Dutch police

The Dutch national police force is moving into its new quarters! Since November 1, 2022, the HUB 50 building has been home to the first staff in the heart of the Papendrop office park in the south of the city. The ambitious renovation project, which started in September 2021 and is managed by Kropman, was officially opened on February 8. 

Dutch law enforcement needed an easily accessible place for all teams - police and partners - to meet and work flexibly. HUB50 will also be the dedicated workspace for police officers responsible for the management and development of ICT (Information and Communication Technology) facilities.  

In line with the changing ways of working that also concern the Dutch police, the different spaces are designed for flexible and multifunctional use. This gives the teams more room to experiment, with the latest equipment and technological tools. Or how to make the HUB50 a place that encourages innovation and teamwork! 

A successful challenge for Kropman 

Beyond its operational functionality, one of the main ambitions of the site remains energy neutrality. This was achieved by renovating the building to make maximum use of the existing facilities.  

The 400-vehicle underground parking lot is now equipped with 36 charging stations, installed by Kropman. The teams of Eiffage Énergie Systèmes' Dutch subsidiary handled all the electrical, IT and ventilation aspects of the renovation: 

- upgrading of the installations related to temperature and air treatment, heating and air conditioning ; 

- installation of systems for fire alarms, drinking water distribution and waste water disposal; 

- power supply and extension of the electrical installations with the installation of 260 photovoltaic panels on the roof and a switch to LED lighting. 

At peak times, up to 40 Kropman employees and up to 50 subcontractors were involved in the work. The total cost of the project is 13 million euros.  

Design, engineering, construction... For Kropman, this global project carried out for the national police force is a real source of pride. Another reason for satisfaction: the very short deadlines were met, despite the supply difficulties linked to the post-Covid context and the war in Ukraine, thanks to the permanent adaptation and flexibility of the teams.
