Toulouse-Blagnac Airport installs its first green hydrogen station

Philippe Crébassa, Chairman of Toulouse-Blagnac Airport, Thierry Cotelle, Chairman of AREC Occitanie, and Julien Chauvet, Chairman of Hyport and Director of Hydrogen France at Engie Solutions, have signed a framework agreement for the construction of the very first green hydrogen station at Toulouse-Blagnac Airport.

In signing this agreement, Toulouse-Blagnac Airport is declaring its commitment to ACI (Airport Council International) Europe’s Net Zero pledge of zero carbon emissions by 2050. This makes it the first airport to establish a station for the production and distribution of green hydrogen, which will fuel four passenger transit buses.

The station, which enters construction this year, will supply green hydrogen for not only mobility services, but also aeronautic and industrial applications. The stations will be located on the tarmac and in the public area for use by individual and business users.

This marks a first installation for Hyport and concrete progress in the company’s strategic plan to integrate hydrogen into the Occitanie region’s economic and environmental roadmap. The lights are now truly green for making Occitanie Europe’s first Positive Energy Region and pushing forward the transition to a carbon-neutral economy.

Key figures:

- 4 hydrogen buses operated by Transdev at Toulouse-Blagnac Airport
- 1 electrolyser at 330 kg/ j
- 2 stations, one airside and one public
- 100% renewable energies supplied from local grids
- Almost 200 vehicles fuelled by green hydrogen
