Eiffage once more recognised by the 2020 “Routes et Rues” competition for innovative projects for two new low-carbon solutions
Eiffage, through its subsidiary Eiffage Route, has been awarded for two solutions by the “Comité Innovation Routes et Rues” (CIRR) in its 2020 “Routes et Rues” competition for innovative projects:
- BioKrom®, an environmentally friendly road surface for low-impact forms of mobility. This solution combines locally-sourced aggregates with a plant-based resin, making low-carbon worksites a reality. Its light colouring reduces the urban heat island effect and, in its permeable version, helps combat soil sealing.
- Bio-Ertalh®, an environmentally friendly compound that strengthens road surfaces. This solution combines recycled coating with a binder produced from recovered biomass ash, generating numerous advantages: cost effective, very low carbon footprint, extremely resistant to all kinds of traffic…
These innovations will now be experimented with public authority project owners who want to try them out in their regions. The trials will then be monitored for three to five years by Cerema, who will carry out technical follow-up to ensure their performance and durability.
Implemented by France’s Directorate-General for Infrastructure, Transport and the Sea (DGITM), a department of the Ministry for the Ecological Transition, the “Routes et Rues” initiative aims to facilitate the application of innovations in real-life conditions and environments by setting up demonstrator projects.
The Group has big ambitions in terms of sustainable development – especially as regards its low-carbon strategy – and, thanks to these distinctions, is enjoying renewed interest in its nationally-recognised expertise.
Eiffage has been a prize-winner at every edition of the “Routes et Rues” competition since its creation. The Group received awards for Recyclean®and R6PONT in 2015, Aéroprène®in 2016, Recytal-ARM®and Luciole in 2017, Microphone®Stéréo and Guid’N Grip in 2018. Last year, no less than four of the eight awards went to Eiffage for LuminoKrom®Vision+, Biophalt®, Skinway®and PRFC, a solution to repair and strengthen bridges using prestressed carbon fibre reinforced polymer (CFRP) sheets.
