Eiffage Foundation: Training young people in mechanical machining trades in Saint-Etienne
Every year, the Forézienne des Ecoles de Production association (AFEP) provides support to 50 underprivileged young people aged 15 to 18 who are newly arrived or failing in their third grade at school. It offers them practical training fulfilling customer orders in the workshop.
The young people then go on to find opportunities in trades that are experiencing manpower shortages in the local job market, including the mechanical machining, metalwork and technical and medical textiles sectors. The results are positive with a 100% pass rate in the CAP qualification. At the end of the training, 80% of participants either find a job or continue their studies with a vocational baccalaureat course.
Ridha Arif, business manager at Energie Systèmes in Montbrison, is supporting the project: he uses the association’s services and is helping to raise its profile among his professional contacts.
The Eiffage Foundation Eiffage is helping to finance a machining centre for the workshop.
You can submit your project to the Eiffage Foundation online: projets.solidaires.fondation.eiffage.com
