Eiffage Énergie Systèmes’ expertise brand Tabelec upgrades switchboards to 4.0 !

Our expertise brand Tabelec, the specialist in designing and building low voltage distribution boards,  is working on the digitalization of data in its electrical cabinets. This ground-breaking and very promising know-how is at the crossroads of our four market expertise brands: Clemessy, Terceo, Expercité and Dorsalys.

Eiffage Énergie Systèmes’ expertise brand Tabelec upgrades switchboards to 4.0 !

Tabelec has been located in Mulhouse since 1937, and today is one of the five major  panel-builders in France. From the study phase to the manufacturing of low-voltage distribution boards, its 125 employees are working on nearly 7,000 m2  alongside Eiffage Énergie Systèmes – Clemessy’s teams.

«Our customers  are mainly installers or manufacturers.  We carry out a technical and economic survey before starting each project, to fully identify their needs  and determine the cost of the project as accurately as possible. The equipment we recommend is always a single part which meets a specific need” said Eric Barbier, manager  at Tabelec. Our employees have thus built customized cabinets for EDF, deployed notably on the Flamanville EPR, as part of the Emergency Diesel programme (Diesel d’Ultime Secours) aiming to reinforce nuclear power plant safety. They also work with Aéroports de Paris and on the Ariane 6 launch pad, to ensure the distribution of electricity and supply facilities with power.

« For many years now, our cabinets have been remotely monitored by industrial controllers, connected up with cables. Thanks to recent technological developments, they can now be provided with native components such as circuit breakers, contactors, human-machine interfaces etc. These different components are equipped with embedded systems connecting them directly to Internet, which enables remote management and monitoring of consumption, temperature and humidity, for example” continued Eric Barbier.

However, it is not enough to install these components on all the low-voltage master distribution boards covered by the contract. The data they communicate must also be organized and used to manage the cabinets by computer, tablet or smartphone, via the connected interfaces. To support our customers in this transition phase and convince them of the innovation’s merits, Tabelec has installed these facilities in its showroom close to its workshops. As Eric explained, “When a potential customer is interested in a car he hasn’t yet seen on the road, he visits a dealer to find out more about it and see if it suits his needs. It is the same principle in our showroom, where we use several operational 4.0 low voltage master distribution boards to persuade customers with a demonstration”
This expertise, which has already proved its worth with customers in the tertiary sector, may well  be emulated on all the contracts handled by Eiffage Énergie Systèmes. The solution is linked to the development of the Internet of Things (IoT) and contributes to revolutionizing our trades, proving their necessary complementarity yet again.
