Amiens Métropole entrusts Terceo’s teams with electrical works in the Musée de Picardie

The museum has undergone significant upgrading work on 8,400 m² of surface area, with an additional extension of 2,850 m², enabling the exhibition of works of art hitherto in storage owing to lack of space. The exhibition area has thus been increased to 5,000 m², and now has the capacity to shelter extensive collections of paintings, sculptures and art objects. 
To supply the museum with high-voltage power, our teams commissioned a HV/LV substation equipped with a 630 KVA transformer, and a prefabricated substation for temporary use. They also put in a low-voltage master distribution panel and 20 distribution boards (ten new and ten overhauled facilities). The light scenarios designed to enhance the exhibits required the installation of 1,800 light points equipped with DALI (Digital Addressable Lighting Interface) -type dimmable electronic ballasts, enabling the luminous flux to be modulated at source. 

In addition, our team of electricians was in charge of low-voltage power facilities and provided the building with 250 fire detectors involving various technologies: optical and radio-interlinked optical smoke alarms, heat alarms and linear heat detection systems, and multipoint ASD detectors. They also commissioned an MDF (main distribution frame) and five IDF (four permanent and one temporary). Our specialists went on to put in a Building Automation System (BAS) to improve safety, comfort and quality in the museum, and rounded off the works in the new amphitheatre, where a set of latest-generation audio-visual facilities was installed. 

This impressive renovation project is scheduled for completion at the end of 2019, including the extension. The museum will open its doors to the general public in March 2020, once the museum practice has been established and the collections arranged in their new setting.
