A36-Sevenans : inauguration of a major project
Tuesday 14 January 2020, the new Sevenans junction and the developments necessitated by the new junction were inaugurated by Philippe Nourry, APRR Chairman & CEO and David Philot, Prefect for the region of Belfort, in the presence of numerous personalities.
This A36/N19 junction redevelopment project is part of the Motorway Rehabilitation Plan signed in 2015 by the Government and APRR.
Three years after the project was launched, the junction is operational. It was commissioned in December 2019, several months ahead of schedule.
L'aménagement de l'échangeur comprend :
• la création d'un nouveau barreau autoroutier de liaison entre l'A36 et la N19 d'environ 1 km comportant 4 voies d'entrecroisement, accompagné de la création d'un échangeur A36/N19. La réalisation complète de cette infrastructure a permis d'améliorer les échanges entre ces deux axes ;
• la restructuration des échanges entre la N19 et la D437, avec la création d'un échangeur au nord de la D437 et la modification de l'échangeur au sud ;
• la mise à 2 x 2 voies de la N19 sur environ 4 km.
The redevelopment of the junction involved:
• the creation of a new motorway interchange section between the A36 and the N19 of approximately 1 km, accompanied by the creation of an A36/N19 junction;
• the restructuring of the junctions between the N19 and the D437, with the creation of a junction to the north of the D437 and modifications to the junction to the south;
• the expansion to 2 x 2 lanes of around 4 km of the N19.
Improving the dynamics of a region
By improving the existing junction and adding a new junction system to the north, traffic will flow better and more safely. The new developments, with slip roads and one-way lanes, will increase safety by preventing the risk of head-on collisions.
The fruit of close collaboration with the local authorities, this project strengthens the dynamism of the region. The Belfort-Montbéliard TGV train station, the Nord Franche-Comté hospital and even the “La Jonxion” business park will be better served thanks to the development of these infrastructures.
A big congratulations to all the teams involved in this ambitious and complex project, which was completed within extremely short timeframes.
