The Cité des Sciences in Paris pays tribute to high-speed travel

"High-Speed Rail" exhibition with support from EIffage - Cité des sciences et de l'industrie, Paris, La Villette, from 19th February to 18th August 2019.

The “High-Speed Rail” exhibition recounts a scientific, technical and human adventure, showcasing the cutting-edge techniques, professions and know-how that underpin France's internationally acclaimed expertise. Models, interactive games, a TGV simulator, videos and quizzes are among the means used to give visitors to this 700 sq. m exhibition insights into some of the technical challenges tackled while developing high-speed rail.

The exhibition - first shown in 2017 at the Rennes Science Centre, coinciding with the opening of the Bretagne-Pays de la Loire high-speed rail line - has at the Cité des Sciences et de l’Industrie been enhanced with a number of artworks inspired by the world of rail transport.
The Exhibition is co-produced by Universcience and the Rennes Science Centre in partnership with Alstom and the International Union of Railways (UIC), with additional support from Eiffage, the French National Institute for Preventive Archaeological Research (INRAP) and the national rail operator SNCF.

The 214 km long Bretagne Pays de la Loire high-speed line has slashed journey times between Paris and Rennes to less than 90 minutes. Inaugurated in July 2017, it was built under a public-private partnership agreement between SNCF Réseau and Eiffage.
Teams from OPERE (an Eiffage subsidiary) will maintain the line until 2036.
