Eiffage Foundation and Emmaüs Alternatives: design objects made from recycled materials in Ile-de-France

Emmaüs Alternatives supports marginalised and homeless people, in particular through an integration project that recycles used items and textiles. The association is developing its upcycling activity with people on integration schemes creating design objects using recycled materials.

Part of the Emmaüs movement, Emmaüs Alternatives provides support to those most in need by offering alternatives to living on the street. A social structure providing support to 4,000 marginalised people per year, it also manages an economic activity offering integration opportunities for 150 people every year. This economic activity is based on the collection and recycling of textiles, linen, shoes and various other used items.

The association is developing a creative upcycling activity in Montreuil (Seine-Saint-Denis). It revolves around the creation of designer objects using recycled materials by three people on integration schemes. There are also creative workshops organised by people from the social structure, to boost mobilisation and raise awareness about recycling and re-use.

The Eiffage Foundation Eiffage and Mohamed Hamaoui, a works supervisor at Eiffage Construction, are supporting Emmaüs Alternatives and its upcycling activity.
