Eiffage Génie Civil's teams installed Rennes metro viaduct's last deck section on 16 February 2018.
This urban viaduct was built in consortium. It measures 2,400 metres, and comprises 70 piers ranging from 4.5 to 9 metres in height and 973 arch segments composing 34 two-span and 2 single-span decks. Construction work was carried out using a launching beam.
Near the end of the installation phase, our teams were working at a rate of 5 days per 70-m two-span deck.
The structure is part of the Rennes Metro Line B project, and is scheduled for completion in the summer.
The viaduct project kicked off in October 2015 after 18 months of preliminary studies and technical updating. It involved 28,000 m³ of concrete, 4,000 tonnes of steel reinforcement and 5,300 m² of protective side barriers built of BSI® ultra-high performance fibred concrete. At its peak, the project mobilized 130 construction workers and 25 supervisory staff.
