Nearly one million solar panels mounted on 16,500 supports, nearly 5,000 km of aerial and underground electric cables to carry photovoltaic electricity to the grid: the Cestas solar power plant on the outskirts of Bordeaux is one of the 25 plants in the French solar park. It is also the largest in Europe: with its 350 GWh per year, its production covers the domestic consumption of the population of Bordeaux. Built and equipped in a record time of only 10 months and commissioned on 30 October 2015, the plant represents an investment of €285 million.
The Cestas solar power plant was built by a consortium comprising the Énergie Systèmes division, Eiffage Route (earthworks), and Eiffage Construction (project management). Clemessy, leading the consortium, implemented a fully-fledged industrial organisation for the turnkey delivery of this plant of more than 250 hectares.
