Autoroute de l’Avenir (the Motorway of the Future) is the first PPP (public-private partnership) in sub-Saharan Africa, the first link in the Dakar-Diamniadio motorway, and the first toll motorway in West Africa. Through this partnership, the State of Senegal entrusted Eiffage with the financing, design, construction, operation and maintenance of a first stretch from Dakar to Diamniadio. Handed over in August 2013, in just 29 months, this 25.5 km stretch significantly reduces travel time from two hours to 30 minutes.
This 30-year contract was supplemented by a contract for an extension to the airport, covering a 25-year period. Financing, design, construction and operation: with this 14 km stretch, commissioned in October 2016, the Motorway of the Future now links the centre of Dakar to the new Blaise Diagne airport and the tourist area of Saly-Mbour. A double achievement for Eiffage Concessions, opening up wide prospects in the field of motorway concessions on the African continent.
