The grand final of the 3rd Eco Skills Challenge was held on Thursday 30 May at the Maison de l'Océan. Congratulations to the winners and to all the participants for their innovative ideas for a more environmentally-friendly and sustainable world of construction.

The Eco Skills Challenge 2024 final

On Thursday 30 May, the final of Eiffage's student challenge on sustainable development, the Eco Skills Challenge, was held at the Maison de l'Océan in Paris. 
It was an opportunity for the 8 finalist teams to be trained in the art of the pitch and to defend their ideas and convictions in front of a panel of Eiffage experts comprising :

  • Benoît de Ruffray, Chairman and CEO of the Eiffage Group
  • Anne-Valérie Cornuault Goulard, Director of Sustainable Development and Transverse Innovation, Eiffage Group
  • Nicolas Moronval, Head of Ecological Transition, Innovation and Development at APRR
  • Valérie Theolle, Technical Director, Eiffage Énergie Systèmes
  • Zoé Choimet, Deputy Director of Rehabilitation at Eiffage Construction 
  • Nathalie Hansen, Quality - Environment - Low Carbon Director // Eiffage Génie Civil et Métal

This year, in addition to the top 3 prizes, a new special prize was awarded: the ‘Public's Favourite’.

The winners:

  • 1st place: the AI Scan team, made up of 6 ESTP students and coached by Hervé LINH (Head of Attractiveness of Professions and School Relations for Énergie Systèmes) with the project ‘using AI to transform materials from demolition sites into a second insulating skin for buildings’.
  • 2nd place: the Eolitech team, made up of an ESTP student and coached by Corinne QUELQUEJEU (Deputy Director of Quality and the Environment for Eiffage Construction) with the project ‘Vertical wind turbines to transform energy from trains in stations’.
  • 3rd place: the Archi Ingénieuses team, made up of 5 students from ESITC Paris and coached by Léonore SGHERRI (Sustainable Innovation Officer for DDDIT) with the project ‘Intelligent facade made up of pivoting hybrid panels’.

The Public's Favourite Award went to the ‘Artificial water tables to filter rainwater’ project submitted by the Tour Eiffage team, which included a student from CentraleSupélec and was coached by Stéphanie POTAGE (Environmental Quality Manager for Eiffage Métal).

Well done to all the participants and their coaches, and see you next year for a new challenge!
