Low-carbon construction site in Nice
The Nice Saint-Augustin multimodal interchange project, awarded to Eiffage Génie Civil, in a consortium with Eiffage Construction, will be eco-responsible.
For the SNCF Gares & Connexions, the contracting authority, and the Nice Côte d'Azur metropolitan area, our teams, who are responsible for the earthworks/soil treatment/foundations/civil engineering/landscaping/landscaping work package, have proposed several low-carbon solutions.
The project, which will generate 41,000 m³ of cutting, will see the land reused for landscaping, the aggregates will be recovered by screening and, materials that cannot be upgraded, removed by rail freight. The rail will also be used to transport wooden slats for false ceilings, which are manufactured in the Netherlands, while the regional industry will be mobilized for the wooden framework of the passenger building. As for the concrete, the quantity of which has been limited, thanks to an optimization of the lengths of the rigid inclusions of soil reinforcement, it will be manufactured in local power stations, but with low carbon cement. Even the movements of the workers has been considered. They will come to the site by public transport!
