Expercité takes part in renovating the Allées Jean-Jaurès in Toulouse

Expercité, the brand which brings together Eiffage Energie Systèmes Branch’s know-how for cities and local authorities, was chosen by Toulouse Metropole Urban Community to take part in restructuring work on the Allées Jean-Jaurès, which have been redeveloped Ramblas-style. As leaders of the consortium chosen for the Urban Lighting and Dry Networks part of this public sector contract, our employees began with infrastructure studies and sizing surveys for the project’s power networks, sprinkling and urban lighting. They went on to carry out urban lighting works on the avenues, laying 10 km of power grid and 5.6 km of sprinkling/drinking water network, installing manholes and 130 manhole covers in lift-assist paving stones, rolling out over 4 km of cables, raising 100 sets of functional and atmospheric lighting to a lamp height of 4 to 8 metres (together with 100 LED spotlights built into the street furniture), fitting control cabinets and electrical connections, and commissioning facilities. 

They also undertook redevelopment work on the dry, sprinkling and drinking water networks for Toulouse Metropole (involving earthworks and civil engineering), laying HDPE ducts, then rolling out and connecting up electrical wiring, before coordinating power cable and sprinkling network routing works in the Indigo underground car park ceiling. The works were finally completed with the installation of retractable power bollards and drinking water fountains. 
To carry through this large-scale project, our teams worked round the clock for 24 months, in concert with the companies handling the other two parts of the contract (Lot 1: roadways and street furniture, Lot 3: green spaces and sprinkling). 

The Allées Jean-Jaurès are located near Toulouse-Matabiau station and now include a 600 m-long promenade, running from Boulevard de Strasbourg to the Canal du Midi. The 17-metre esplanade is lined with marked bus lanes and equipped with safe cycle paths. The raised central reservation - for pedestrians only - is decorated with trees and shrubs and lined with chairs and benches. These seeded Ramblas provide access to Jean-Jaurès metro station (Line B) and the adjacent Indigo car parks, which include 6 charging points for electrical vehicles, 8 parking spaces for persons with reduced mobility (PRM), 20 spaces for cycles and 30 more for motorbikes. 
Toulouse Ramblas-Garden was inaugurated with a flourish on 23 December 2019. A commented tour was provided to celebrate the occasion.
