A graduate of the École Polytechnique and the École des Mines de Paris, Thierry Wolkiewiez began his career with ExxonMobil in 1998, where he held a number of managerial roles in the areas of strategic planning, logistics and trading. In 2004, he joined the Vallourec Group, where he performed operational management and project coordination roles in Brazil, before taking charge of strategy for the Group's casing and tubing division.
