Expertise brand Clemessy Motors, based in Mulhouse, specializes in renovating generator motors and induction coils. The company has been entrusted with overhauling the motors in EDF’s nuclear power plants, and renovating the windings. Two standing order contracts were signed for a 5-year period.

The UTO (Operational Technical Unit) in charge of selecting, qualifying and following up external companies and suppliers of EDF monitors compliance and service quality via the awarding of certification.  Having already proved its worth with this uncompromising customer, Clemessy Motors signed two contracts with EDF in late 2017. Our employees specialize at European level in renovating motors and have developed know-how in stator winding maintenance, a technology used by rotating machinery winding, which includes the motors.

As part of the « Grand Carénage” (Major Refitting) industrial programme manged by EDF to extend nuclear power plant lifecycle in the Group, our experts were committed to a renovation capacity of 15 motors per year during the 5-year contractual period. The service provided by our teams includes renovating windings and mechanical repairs and upgrading on medium voltage motors of 2,000 kW to 5,600 kW.
« To fulfill this major order and carry through our assignment we had to equip ourselves with a high-performance tool for manufacturing windings. This investment enabled Clemessy Motors to win these two strategic contracts with UTO and will give us the opportunity to obtain future contracts of the same kind” said André Grimsinger, sales manager on this project.

After a year of implementation, our experts have already confirmed ten orders since the end of 2018 as part of these two contracts with EDF UTO, who continue to seek their know-how in electrical and mechanical engineering.
