As part of the Anse du Portier marine urbanization project carried out by Bouygues Construction, Eiffage Génie Civil Marine's teams have successfully towed a first caisson from Marseille Harbour.
The event was celebrated by a visit from HRH Prince Albert II of Monaco together with several of the Principality's celebrities, on 25 July 2018.
For our Group, this was an important stage of the operation to create a 6,5 hectare platform reclaimed from the sea, in order to develop an eco-district inside a protective seawall built of reinforced concrete caissons precast in Marseille Harbour.
Eiffage's assignment involves taking charge of 18 caissons in Marseille (each weighing 10,000 tonnes), towing them to Monaco and installing them by ballasting the seabed foundations previously prepared by our teams. All this must be carried through in a sensitive environmental framework enabling the conservation of Monaco's marine biodiversity.
