At the end of July 2017, Ariège Departmental Council launched a major project to repair the bridge spanning the River Hers on departmental road 507 in the Lagarde municipality.
The structure was first demolished, before being rebuilt using steel girders encased in concrete. Our teams' programme included building deep foundations comprising 1,200 mm diameter piles, abutments, a central pier and rip-rap.
Work continued until January and included deck construction, installing equipment and linking up the road.
The road surface on this new bridge has been widened to 3.5 metres, instead of its former 2.5 metres.
