The first piles arrive in Freetown Harbour

The Symphony Sun left ArcelorMittal's Dutch factory on 3 March and arrived in Freetown Harbour on 18 March with a first cargo of piles and sheet-piles for the extension of the container terminal commissioned by Freetown Terminal LTD, subsidiary of Bolloré Transport & Logistics.

Meanwhile in Sierra Leone, our Integrated International Projects teams were preparing the storage area and organizing staff and hoisting resources to meet the unloading requirements imposed by the ship's stability. The 130 piles and 334 sheet-piles representing 5,000 tonnes of steel were unloaded and stored at a rate of 100 tonnes per hour - 3 times faster than scheduled!
A second ship, already chartered, will arrive at the end of April to deliver the remaining 100 piles.
