“GreEn-ER” Energy and Water Management School in Grenoble

It took just three years for Eiffage teams to build the “GreEn-ER” Energy and Water Management School in Grenoble (Isère), working with Groupe-6 architect firm. This public-private partnership project is part of the national Campus plan to renovate French universities.

The new 22,000 m² building, delivered in June 2015, includes a huge 1,100 m² agora and is a showcase for some of the best technology in energy saving. The building’s energy consumption is 30% lower than the targets set by 2012 thermal regulations and its air permeability level is 0.92 m3/h.m².

The building’s design is particularly ingenious, eliminating thermal bridges, focusing on the air-tightness of the outer shell and leveraging natural lighting. The heat generated by the server room will be used to partly heat the agora in winter. Hundreds of sensors will monitor the behaviour of occupants and record water and energy consumption data.

The works were carried out by Eiffage Construction in partnership with Eiffage Énergie, under the direction of Eiffage Concessions. “GreEn-ER” will be maintained for a period of 26 years by the Eiffage Concessions Services department.
