Eiffage hands over the south wall of the Grande Arche in La Défense
On 31 March 2017, Eiffage handed over the south wall of the Grande Arche in La Défense to the French Ministry of the Environment, Energy and Marine Affairs, and the Ministry of Housing and Sustainable Homes.
The 30-month programme of works to redevelop and modernise facilities and work spaces to comply with the latest energy consumption, comfort and accessibility standards required wideranging expertise from across the Group (Eiffage Construction, Eiffage Énergie and the façade specialist, Goyer), working in partnership with the Valode & Pistre architecture firm. The marble cladding on the southern façades, tympana and steps was also replaced, restoring the monument to its former glory.
Work to renovate the roof of the arch continues, in preparation for opening to the public in June 2017. With its redeveloped roof terrace and promenade offering 360° views, as well as an exhibition area and restaurant, the Grande Arche is set to recover its former status as a major Parisian tourist attraction. Eiffage Concessions will manage the rooftop public spaces, in partnership with City One.
