Eiffage selected for BPL high speed rail public-private partnership contract
On January 18th the French RFF (Réseau Ferré de France) selected Eiffage as preferred bidder for the public-private partnership (PPP) contract to finance, design, build and maintain the Bretagne - Pays de la Loire (Le Mans - Rennes) high speed rail link, one of the biggest rail projects in Europe: a major success for the Group!
The project, valued at €3.4 billion, is one of the biggest in Europe over the next five years. The rail line will be an extension of the existing high speed link between Paris and Connerré (20 km to the east of Le Mans), and aims to significantly improve access to the “Grand Ouest” area of France, and reduce travel times between Paris and Rennes by 37 minutes.
Recognised expertise in the implementation of major infrastructure projects
Eiffage has been investing in major infrastructure concessions for over a decade, including the Prado-Carénage tunnel in Marseille, the Norscut motorway in Portugal and the Millau viaduct. More recently, in December 2010, the A65 Pau-Langon motorway and the Perpignan-Figueras high speed rail link were commissioned. Eiffage has acquired a unique experience that reinforces its position in the concessions and PPP market for infrastructure and equipment, and confirms the soundness of its strategic choices.
214 km of new railway lines, of which 182 will be for high speed running
Total investment: €3.4 billion
More than 10,000 jobs generated during the construction phase
