In short

On January 31st, Eiffage, in partnership with IUCN (International Union for Conservation of Nature) and the University of Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne, gathered together some 200 participants for a European meeting : "Large infrastructure projects and biodiversity: from the protection of species to the restoration of ecological services".

The event, organized within the framework of the European "Business & Biodiversity" campaign, fully achieved its aim to enable stakeholders to exchange expertise and viewpoints concerning the integration of emerging biodiversity issues into town and country planning projects.

The presentations, forums and debates were highly successful in addressing in depth not only the best ecological engineering practices applied to construction projects, but also the major issues central to the debate: the complexity of regulations, unpredictability of evolution of living things, risk management for businesses and nature, involvement of governing bodies, taking into account of ecological continuities and services, discussions on a local level and with partners, issue of land use etc.
