A new step forward in work to extend Paris metro line 14 conducted by Eiffage and Razel-Bec
At a christening ceremony, this machine was named Magaly after an RATP transport company employee who will be its symbolic "godmother".
Assembled this summer, this TBM is nearly 100 metres long and weighs 1,500 tonnes. It will excavate the first 1,600 metres of tunnel from Pont Cardinet station to Gare Saint-Lazare railway station which should be reached by spring 2016. In one year’s time, a second TBM will start excavating the remaining 2,000 metres between Pont Cardinet and Porte de Clichy. This first stage of the “Grand Paris” works campaign entrusted to the Eiffage Génie civil - Razel-Bec consortium by the STIF and RATP transport authorities, acting as joint clients, was launched in spring 2014. It entails boring 3,600 metres of tunnel between Saint-Lazare railway station and Porte de Clichy and creating two new metro stations, Pont Cardinet and Porte de Clichy.
