A Belgian subsidiary of Eiffage Métal, Smulders specialises in the design, engineering and manufacture of foundations, transition pieces and grid connection substations for offshore wind farms. The company can point to numerous reference projects in the North Sea, including the Merkur and Deutsche Bucht wind farms off the coast of Germany as well as Scotland’s Aberdeen Bay and Beatrice farms.
Floating offshore turbines are a next-generation technology offering a production potential three times greater than grounded winded turbines. This solution is to be highlighted by the construction of a pilot wind farm in the Gulf of Lions. This floating installation being developed by a consortium in which Eiffage Métal is one of the industrial partners will feature four 6 MW wind turbines with flotation modules built at the Eiffage Métal plant in Fos-sur-Mer.
