The shuttle officially went into service on Eiffage Énergie Systèmes’ Jonage site near Lyon (69) in the presence of all the project partners and the press.
Since the beginning of March, MIA, the first driverless shuttle in operation on the open road, is in service in Gaulnes joint development area, Meyzieu-Jonage. The shuttle is connected to the public transport network and provides a concrete, ground-breaking solution to employees’ transport needs.
The experiment was launched for a two-year period by Eiffage Énergie Systèmes via our Expercité brand. It involves several local players in an ambitious public-private consortium: Greater Lyon, Rhône and Lyon equipment and development company SERL, the SYTRAL (Rhône and Lyon urban area joint transport association) and transport operator Berthelet.
The shuttle service covers 2.4km on its 15-20 minute circuits, enabling users to travel the first and last kilometre of their home-workplace commute. It has a capacity of up to 15 passengers. Since MIA went into service in early March, 260 tester-users have already taken part in the experiment. The aim is to quickly obtain feedback from 300 active users in order to refine and improve our offer as part of this two-year experiment, the longest ever carried out in France.
A website is available to shuttle users, where they can consult schedule information in real time.
