Completed Projects
On Reunion Island, the Tamarins road opened to traffic in June 2009, after France’s largest road-building project of recent years. The new road runs for almost 34 km, providing a high-speed link between Saint-Paul and Étang-Salé, and offering a development lifeline for the "Les Hauts" (the heights) areas, located midway between the coast and the highest part of the island, which were previously cut off by a large number of ravines. Eiffage was heavily involved in this project, via Eiffage Travaux Publics and Eiffage Construction Métallique, which carried out more than half of the work for the road, including earthworks, surfacing and engineering structures. The latter include the Trois Bassins viaduct, Saint-Paul viaduct and the Grande Ravine viaduct, which spans a ravine 280 m wide and 170 m deep without intermediate piers.
